Summer at The Nook!
During our summer program, children dive into fun, dynamic weekly themes filled with books, stories, music, and sensory play. We adventure and play outside every day! And, while summer brings plenty of excitement, we also maintain a soothing routine to ensure children feel safe, grounded, and supported throughout each day.
Our summer program runs for 8 weeks, between July 6 - August 28. Sign up is weekly, with a two week minimum commitment. Schedule options remain consistent with our school year program: Early Bird starting at 8am, Core Day ending at 3pm, and Extended Day until 6 pm. 2, 3 and 5 day options. Inquire about mini-days (half day program) as spots are limited!

Our Weekly Themes
Week 1 | July 6 - 10
Our Neighborhood
Join us to explore and learn about our neighborhood through daily walks to the playground, community garden, and other spots including local shops, bakery and pizza parlor! We'll also explore maps, books, and talk about neighborhood helpers such as doctors, bus drivers, police officers and more.
Week 2 | July 13 - 17
Nature Detectives
This week is all about connecting with the living world around us. We will read books about plants, and learn about local trees, flowers and foliage. We’ll visit the community garden and investigate the scents and textures of different herbs and plants. We will investigate mother nature’s many materials via creative play and sensory driven art projects. Children will even plant their own black bean seed and watch them sprout and grow.
Week 3 | July 20 - 24
Animals Around the World
We will journey across continents, deserts and forests, to meet animals big and small - from dinosaurs and tigers, to chipmunks and newts! We will explore how they move, sound, and live through non-fiction books, imaginative stories, dance and art.
Week 4 | July 27 - July 31
Space Explorers
Come learn about the moon, stars and planets. During Space Explorers' week we will read books about space, create space-themed art, build rocket ships, and nurture the imagination via our amazing universe.
Week 5 | August 3 - 7
Beach and Ocean
This week is all about embracing summer’s favorite costal environment! We will explore shells, sand, water and tall he ocean has to offer. Through books, sensory play and music we will learn about ocean creatures - from sharks and octopus to fish, dolphins, and seaweed. Children will even build their own colorful coral reefs to take home at the end of the week!
Week 6 | August 10 - 14
Creative Builders
In Creative Builders, children explore balance, engineering, and design through hands-on building. Using recycled materials, Magna-Tiles, DUPLOs, and more, they’ll create bridges, vehicles, and imaginative inventions. They will design boats to test which ones float or sink in our sensory table. And we will read books that explore how our world is put together.
Week 7 | August 17 - 21
Science Lab
In Science Lab, children dive into hands-on experiments that spark curiosity and discovery. We’ll explore colors, textures, light and shadows. We will explore reactions and experience cause and effect with baking soda and vinegar, melting ice, and oobleck. Inviting engagement and observation through lots of joyful, messy fun.
Week 8 | August 24 - 28
Lil' Chefs
In Lil’ Chefs, children learn where food comes from, explore dishes from around the world. We discover foods that nourish our bodies, we learn about fruits and vegetables. We explore farms and fruits and vegetables through story and play in our play kitchen. They’ll have the chance to experience new ingredients, sample interesting snacks, and even create their own "rainbow salad" jars to bring home!
